Mr. Kaufman has significant bankruptcy experience with an emphasis on representing debtors.  Mr. Kaufman also has broad-based experience in the employment, insurance, real estate, tort and business litigation areas representing individuals and small- to mid-sized businesses.

Mr. Kaufman’s recent accomplishments and representations include:

• Resolved a bankruptcy matter allowing the client to retain his primary residence and four rental properties
• Navigated a bankruptcy matter persuading the United States Trustee to withdraw its motion to dismiss. 
• Resolved a case against a real estate developer arising from the bank’s judicial foreclosure action seeking a substantial deficiency
• Resolved a complex trade secrets case involving alleged theft of manufacturing techniques
• Resolved an insurance bad faith claim arising from the insurance company’s failure to defend a company sued for misappropriation of trade secrets
• Resolved sexual harassment case involving allegations of retaliation for participating in a sexual harassment investigation
• Resolved sexual harassment case involving allegations of sexual battery and unwelcome “gifts” of photos and video tapes.

Mr. Kaufman has served on the Boards of Directors of several non-profit organizations, including currently the Merage Jewish Community Center of Orange County and the Vista Verde Foundation.

Mr. Kaufman received his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1988. Mr. Kaufman obtained his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles in 1991.

Mr. Kaufman was admitted to the California Bar and the United States District Court, Central District in 1991, and is also admitted in the United States District Court, Southern District, the United States District Court, Northern District, United States District Court, Eastern District, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
